The Smart Set I
Copyright 1993 Cascoly Software
Welcome to The Smart Set I, by David C. Snyder and Steve Estvanik.
The Smart Set I is learning software for children ages 3-6. It teaches
alphabet recognition, early keyboarding, picture and word association, and
other language arts skills. System requirements are an IBM or compatible
computer with 640K RAM, VGA, a hard drive or a high-density floppy drive,and a
microsoft-compatible mouse. The program supports a Sound Blaster or
compatible sound card.
Getting Started
---------------
The Smart Set I requires that your mouse driver is loaded. If you normally
use a mouse with Microsoft Windows, remember that when you exit Windows the
mouse driver does not stay resident. Therefore you must load a mouse driver
from DOS. You probably received a mouse support disk with your computer.
This disk normally contains a file called MOUSE.COM. Copy this file to your
hard drive, and load the mouse driver by typing MOUSE. The driver will stay
resident until you turn off or reboot your computer.
To begin The Smart Set I, type TSS1. You must be in The Smart Set I directory
for this to work.
Program Operation
-----------------
The first time your child uses the software you will want to help him/her
navigate the menu and the four program choices. Children quickly learn to
operate the program on their own. A menu selection is made by locating the
mouse cursor within the appropriate selection box, and pressing the left mouse
button.
From within a program area, the user can escape back to the menu by locating
the mouse cursor on the ESCape button, or by pressing the Esc key.
To toggle the music on/off, press ALT-S anywhere within the program. To
toggle the labels on the various graphics on/off, press ALT-L from within the
appropriate section. The labels will toggle during the following graphics
display.
